We recently interviewed  Interior Designer, Bee Osborn to gain an insight into her passion and interior style along with discussing her Fenwick & Tilbrook colour range.

Firstly, please tell us what you love most about your job?

“I love the creativity of transforming a space from concept to completion and watching it evolve. Building relationships with clients and creating spaces to reflect their personality. Working on both residential and commercial spaces is so interesting and hugely varied, with each project being unique, presenting different challenges and opportunities”.

How do you balance a hectic career with having some all-essential down time at home?

“I don’t balance it very well! It’s going to be my aim for 2024!  However, I think it is essential to have a restful place to switch off at the end of every day, I think that is why I love creating calm, comfortable interiors with a neutral relaxed colour palette”.

With such an array of paint colours available – what inspired you to create your very own range of paints?

“I used to mix my own paints to get the perfect shade for my own homes and after being constantly asked by people what paint colours I used, I thought it would be lovely to try and recreate them. Fenwick & Tilbrook were the obvious choice as I wanted a small family run business with high quality paints and great customer service”.

Can you tell us a bit more about the inspiration behind the colours?

“The colours themselves were inspired by nature, as I love designing calm environments, using natural materials such as, timber, lime plaster and linens. So I wanted the paint colours to compliment these elements. I also wanted to create the perfect ‘off white’ that softer than white, but still bright but warm. The colours were named after my dogs, as they ‘funnily enough’ are similar colours to the paints! With the addition of Cotswold Fleece, named after the Cotswold sheep, and Penny Black that was named after the first stamp as it was created in The Old Post Office”.

How do you like to use multiple paint colours from your range in the same room?

“Algy’s Patch with Alfie’s Tail,

Penny Black with Cotswold Fleece

and Cotswold Fleece with Cotswold Cottage are my favourite combinations”.

With disposable income being tighter than ever, what do you think people designing their own homes on a budget need to prioritise?

“I feel, whatever the budget, it’s crucial to prioritise key elements that have a significant impact on both aesthetics and functionality. We focus on investing in versatile and durable furniture pieces, opting for timeless designs that won’t go out of style quickly. We tend to make all of our sofas and chairs in neutral, contract fabrics for durability. Clients can then add colour to smaller less expensive items that can we changed easily, like cushions and throws”.

And finally, what is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your professional career as an Interior Designer?

“The most valuable lesson I’ve learned as an interior designer is that creating spaces that truly resonate with clients goes beyond aesthetics; it involves deeply understanding their lifestyles, preferences, and emotions to create environments that enhance not just the physical surroundings but also the overall well-being of the occupants”.
